Vintage Label Love

We had another visit to the County costume archive this week and found some super items we are currently shortlisting for our exhibition.

We came across some fantastic labels on garments, including below: A Lanvin - French couture label on a gorgeous quilted velvet evening jacket and a CC41 - 'Controlled Commodity 41' the utility clothing label:

This is a very early example of a label on a 1920s dressmaker-made dress, with a size label '42' inside:

We wish clothes could talk! We'd love to know how a dress exclusive to a dress shop in Cincinatti came to be in Worcestershire!

'Marshall & Snellgrove is a great vintage label to look out for, a department store that eventually became part of Debenhams. We have some of their hat boxes we use for display in Second Hand Rose!
